An elderly man has allegedly been robbed by an armed man outside his home in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. The assailant approached the 79-year-old early in the morning as he was returning home from the Post Office, making demands for cash as he threatened him with what was believed to be firearm. An 18-year-old was later arrested in connection with the attack (Dinnington Guardian, 14 November 2012).

A gun was brandished during a disturbance to which police responded in Stoke Newington, east London. Officers were called after a firearm was reported to have been in the possession of one of two men who tried to escape in taxis as police reached the scene. They were unsuccessful and fled on foot, pointing the weapon at one of the officers when he gave chase. Two young men have been arrested.

The manager of a gold buyers in Bradford, West Yorkshire has allegedly been threatened by a man with a gun. The victim was not injured but the robber escaped on foot with thousands of pounds in cash.

A man was involved in a stand-off with armed officers after resisting arrest at his home in Saltaire, West Yorkshire. He allegedly threw items at police out of a window and said he was armed with a loaded gun. After hour-long negotiations, he was arrested and an imitation firearm was recovered from the property.

An air weapon has been stolen from a car parked in Barnham, Norfolk. The window of the vehicle was smashed to gain access to the before the .22 air rifle during the early hours of the morning.

A cat has been targeted in a pellet gun attack on a house in Overpool, Cheshire. The cat was shot at through the window of the property next to which it was lying. The pellet shattered the glass, but the cat was not hurt. She was reported to have been so frightened by the attack that she hid herself in an upstairs room for a number of days, refusing to come out even to eat.

A cat has been shot with an air rifle near her home in Greenford, west London. The pellet fractured her jaw and she will require complicated surgery to rebuild it. The 18-month-old had already been shot in the foot the previous year, when two other cats in the family were also injured in airgun attacks.

Two cats have been shot in airgun attacks in Stirling, Scotland. One cat was shot in the shoulder and vets said she would make a full recovery after the pellet was removed. The other cat had to be put down after it was found, with a broken back caused by the shooting and suffering from hypothermia, in a box outside the veterinary surgery. In response to the shootings, the SSPCA reiterated its belief in the need for a complete ban on airguns

Police divers searched the bottom of a lake after reports that a gun had been dumped in the water, following a number of gun incidents in Old Basford, Nottingham. They were unable to locate a weapon but have pledged to continue the search in light of recent gunfire and the shooting of a young woman at a pub in the area.

A man has assaulted two teenage boys with a gun at a supermarket in Colchester, Essex. One of the boys suffered injuries to his head and leg in the attack during which the pair were threatened with what looked like a handgun. He received treatment for minor injuries and police have arrested a 26-year-old man suspected of committing firearms offences.
