A man has been shot dead outside the home of his friend in Luton, Bedfordshire. Two men were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but have since been released on bail. Police have connected the killing to an ongoing dispute between criminal groups in the town.

A 46-year-old man has been found shot dead at his home in Appley Bridge, Lancashire. He was discovered with a shotgun next to him and police are not looking for anyone else in connection with his death.

A man has been shot in the stomach with a suspected airgun pellet in Bolton, Greater Manchester. He reported to hospital after discovering the pellet had lodged in his abdomen was treated for minor injuries.

Firearms officers were deployed after reports of a man with a gun in the centre of Johnstone, Renfrewshire. They located a weapon wrapped in plastic that was found to be an imitation and arrested a 30-year-old man at the scene. The following day a man was stabbed twice on the same road, and taken to hospital for surgery on his wounds.

A cat was shot at close range with what police believed to be an air rifle near his home in Seven Acres, Essex. The 11-year-old pet's injuries were so severe that he had to be put down.

A one-year-old cat has been shot in the face with an air rifle near his home in Ferndown, Dorset. He needed surgery to remove a pellet that was embedded in his head behind his eye, and the RSPCA stated that he was "lucky to be alive". The charity also reported that a number of similar incidents had recently taken place in the same area.

A badger has been shot dead with a paintball gun in a woodland in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. Three men were seen dragging an animal into the woods and loud noises were heard before the badger was found with wounds from the imitation weapon by members of the public.

Leslie Donovan, 59, has been jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to possessing a stun gun disguised as a mobile phone and producing cannabis at his home in Hadlow, Kent. Police found seven cannabis plants and the taser when they visited the property on a different matter. Donovan told them the gun did not work and that he had used it as a torch when his car broke down, but it was discovered to be charged and in working order. The judge ruled that the fact his partner suffered with serious seizures since an accident road traffic accident was an exceptional circumstance, which meant Donovan could avoid the mandatory five-year statutory term.

Fesar Khiaq, 27, and James Campbell, 23, have been jailed for 35 and 29 years respectively for conspiring to murder the family of a man who had been cleared in court of previously attacking Khiaq's brother in Watford, Hertfordshire. Khiaq sent Campbell and an accomplice to the family home, where they shot the man's 66-year-old father in the neck and shoulder with a shotgun. The shots made a large hole in his neck and pellets entered his brain, causing a haemorrhage. He was left paralysed and incontinent, requiring 12 months of hospital treatment and full-time care from his family since returning home.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged with stabbing to death a songwriter in a flat in Colchester, Essex. He is also accused of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and of possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life in connection with the murder. A 22-year-old male has also been arrested on suspicion of assisting the alleged offender.
