Lukasz Feliks, aged 40, has been jailed for twelve-and-a-half years after admitting assault occasioning actual bodily harm and being convicted of possessing an imitation firearm and attempting to pervert the course of justice. In March 2023, Feliks raped and strangled a woman at an address in Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, before hitting a man over the head with an imitation handgun outside the property. He also sent letters to the female victim urging her not to give evidence against him.

Zoltan Bado, aged 31 and from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, has been jailed for eight months after pleading guilty to possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. In August 2022, Bado threatened a man with a CO2-powered BB gun during a fight. He also threatened to damage the man’s vehicle.

It has emerged that a man suffered a massive stroke and brain injury after he was injured by a stray pellet during a target-shooting session in Cornwall earlier this year. The pellet struck a main artery in his neck and the man required life-saving surgery. The victim was on holiday with his wife and two young children when the incident occurred.

A man, a teenage boy and a woman were arrested on suspicion of money laundering and possession of firearms after police officers searched four properties in Partington, Manchester and Lymm, Cheshire. Officers recovered three firearms, approximately £200k of illicit cash, two high-value vehicles and a large quantity of high-value items, including ten luxury watches. In addition, neglected animals, including eight puppies, were rescued by RSPCA.

After raiding a property in Melksham, Wiltshire, armed police officers arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence. Officers were seen searching a nearby nature reserve following the arrests.

William McWilliams, aged 56, has been jailed for five years after pleading guilty to possessing a self-loading/pump action smooth-bore gun. In September 2021, police officers recovered a sawn-off shotgun and cartridges at McWilliams’ home in Accrington, Lancashire. The cartridges had been hidden inside a rubber glove, while the shotgun was wrapped in a cloth. On arrest, McWilliams claimed to have thought the weapon was a sword.

Tony Bennett, aged 34 and from Cumbernauld, Dunbartonshire, has been jailed for three years and nine months after pleading guilty to being involved in serious organised crime. After the criminal messaging network, Encrochat, was decrypted in 2020, detectives discovered evidence that Bennett had tried to buy a Skorpion machine gun and had schemed to smuggle cocaine and heroin into Scotland from China and Ecuador. Bennett could be freed within weeks as his sentence was backdated to his arrest.

Armed airport police were deployed after security officials found a gun in a suitcase at Manchester Airport. An American man, arrested at the scene, has since been charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition for a firearm without a certificate.
