An airgun pellet was removed from the shoulder of a young cat shot in Streetly, West Midlands. She is believed to have been in a back garden when she was shot.

Police removed two guns from the Wavertree and Fairfield areas of Merseyside after community intelligence. Three men arrested in separate incidents appeared in court charged with firearms offences. One, who was arrested in Fairfield, was charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life. Another man arrested in Dovecot was charged with the same offence, and a teenager from Wavertree was charged with possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition without a certificate (Liverpool Daily Post, 30 October 2010).

Your Local Guardian, 25 September 2013Louis Browning has pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm, and has been found guilty of having a firearm with intent to endanger life, causing grievous bodily harm, robbery and false imprisonment in Wallington, South London. He and a group of other men attacked a man on the street and also inside a van, hitting him with a shotgun, stabbing him in the legs and face and stealing his mobile phone, keys and trousers. Police recovered two live cartridges, a gas-powered air pistol, and the sawn-off shotgun from where it was hidden in a ceiling space during a search of Browning's home a few days after the assault.

Daniel Odoi-Asare from Pinner, north west London, is due to be sentenced on two counts of robbery and two of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit an indictable offence. He had a BB gun when he stole a car and a sat nav in two separate incidents.

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder of two men in Kensington, Liverpool, in 2008 (see Incidents). One of the men was shot with a revolver in a flat in June, the other was shot by a man in camouflage in his living room in July. The defendant is charged with two offences of attempted murder, two of wounding with intent and two of possession of a firearm with intent to endanger. James Gilmore has been convicted and will serve a minimum of 15 years before being considered for release (Liverpool Echo, 27 April 2010).

A cat is recovering after finding its way home having been shot and missing for four days. The pet was shot with a pellet gun or an air weapon in Corby, Northamptonshire. An RSPCA inspector said it was lucky she was not more seriously injured.
