A pet owner from Christchurch, Dorset, has spoken of her horror at seeing her cat covered in blood after he was shot with an air rifle. The cat will have to live with a pellet inside him.

Joseph Carragher was offered two stolen shotguns by a stranger in Inverness who approached him asking for drugs and then asked him to find a buyer for the weapons. The guns had been taken during a break-in at a house. He pleaded guilty to resetting two shotguns and failing to have a firearms certificate. He will be sentenced next month.
