A female swan was found dead at a pond in Godstone Green, Surrey. She had a hole in her neck, and experts believe the injury was caused by a type of air weapon. Her mate has been permanently moved from the site.

A 13-year-old boy has been arrested after fellow schoolchildren in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, were attacked with a stun gun. Witnesses say he chased other pupils and three children were rendered helpless to the ground. The weapon was apparently bought during a trip to Bulgaria with his father. The weapon is illegal in the UK.

A man was shot with a baton round by police as he walked through the centre of Loughborough, Leicestershire, wielding a gun. He was arrested and taken to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries. A gun was found at the scene and is being examined.

A cat has had to have a leg amputated after being shot with an air weapon near his home in Letchworth, Hertfordshire. He had returned home limping, howling and crying with pain. An X-ray revealed a pellet had shattered his hip, causing considerable damage to the remained of his leg.
