Kerryn Everett, 31, has been jailed for 25-and-a-half months after pleading guilty to false imprisonment and assault by beating. In July last year, Everett forced a woman he knew to remain at his home in Cardiff, South Wales after she told him she wanted to leave. He went on to put what looked like a handgun to his head and inside his mouth, while threatening to kill himself. The woman managed to escape but Everett followed her and tried to drag her back inside. She was rescued by a friend, who was assaulted by Everett as she tried to push him away. Darnell Duquesnay, 23, and Rhys Barnett-Poole, 20, have been jailed for six years, four months and five years, respectively, after admitting possessing a prohibited weapon. In September 2021, police officers pursued a car with false plates in Birmingham, West Midlands. CCTV captured Barnett-Poole discarding a bag in a bin after he and two other men fled the vehicle when it stopped in a cul-de-sac. Duquesnay and Barnett-Poole were detained nearby and the bag, containing a loaded revolver, was retrieved. Duquesnay's DNA was found on the weapon and one of the bullets. The court heard that Barnett-Poole claimed to have been looking after the pistol for someone else, while Duquesnay only became aware of the weapon after offering him a lift.
