A 4-year-old girl has been shot dead and her mother has serious head injuries and is in a critical condition after a shooting at a house in Aldershot, Hampshire.  A man, believed to be the girl's father, was also found dead with a gun beside him.  The police are not looking for anyone else in connection with the shootings.  The woman died from her injuries a day later (Guardian, 30 December 2009).  The weapon is believed to have been a handgun (Times, 31 December 2009).  A coroner has recorded that the man unlawfully killed the other victims and then took his own life (see March 2010 Incidents).
