Firearms officers were called to investigate an alleged armed burglary of an empty house in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire after a group of men were seen running from the property. No firearm was recovered and no arrests have been made.

A 12-year-old girl was allegedly shot in the neck with a BB gun by a man who fired at her from his car. The victim was hit by the passing shooter while playing with her friends in Barrow, Lancashire and was left with a red mark.

Two men threatened employees at a convenience store in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire using a gun and a hammer. The pair escaped with cash, cigarettes and alcohol but one suspect was later arrested. Police have appealed for information about the second robber.

Police investigating the death of a man, his wife and mother-in-law, and a passing cyclist in the French Alps in September, after their car was fired at with a semi-automatic weapon, have discovered that the victim kept a prohibited 50k-volt taser gun at his home in Claygate, Surrey. It is not known whether he held the weapon for general self-defence or whether it was connected to an alleged dispute between the victim and his brother over the ownership of the property they had jointly inherited.

Two men have carried out an armed robbery of a corner shop in Johnstone, Renfrewshire. They used a knife and what was believed to be a gun to frighten two workers into handing over cash. They escaped on foot with over £100, leaving the employees very shaken but unhurt.

An off-licence has been closed after a violent street fight that began in the shop was continued on the street outside the premises in Bootle, Merseyside. The business had previously been the site of trade in illegal firearms by the owner's son, who was jailed for offering .45 expanding bullets to an undercover police officer to whom he sold a double-barrelled sawn-off shotgun and 10 12-bore cartridges.

Police have used a taser gun on a man who tried to hold-up an off licence in Denton, Greater Manchester with an imitation gun. Officers used the weapon to disarm the robber, before he was arrested on suspicion of attempted armed robbery.
