Five masked men threatened a couple with a gun during an incident at a flat in Moss Side. After a brief verbal altercation the gang left. The gun was not fired and no-one was injured.

A man was reported carrying a pistol in a pub in Swindon. A man was arrested on suspicion of the possession of a firearm and is on bail while the gun is checked to see if it is an imitation.
Two women workers in a Hastings off licence were confronted by a man pointing a handgun at them. They were so frightened they were unable to work the till and the would-be robber fled empty-handed.
The wife of a man who died after being found with gunshot wounds in their bedroom in Fenstanton, near Cambridge, was being questioned by police. The man has been described as a gun enthusiast and is believed to have suffered wounds from a shotgun. The woman has been granted bail to be answered in March (BBC, 1 February 2008).
