Alex Allen, 49, has been jailed for five years for illegally hiding an imitation weapon that had been converted to fire, ammunition and a CS gas canister in his office at the security company he managed and a nearby caravan in Kingston upon Thames, south London. The prohibited weapons were discovered when police executed a warrant at the business premises.

A woman has been shot dead at a residential property in Hinckley, Leicestershire. Police were called to the property where they found the body of the victim with gunshot wounds. Two men who visited the victim and another man at the property were suspected to have been involved in the shooting but left the scene in a car before police arrived. A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Dane Willey has been jailed for three years for a violent robbery of man in which he threatened to shoot his victim on a street in Blackpool, Lancashire. Willey grabbed his victim by the throat and threw him to the ground, threatening to shoot him with a gun to force him to hand over his phone, jacket and £5 in cash. Willey told the victim he was being watched and not to move before escaping on foot, but was stopped and arrested by police.

Eric Nunn has been fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 costs with a £20 victim surcharge for fraudulently applying for a shotgun certificate in Whitburn, Tyne and Wear. Nunn failed to declare previous spent convictions in his application, and this was rejected, leading to his arrest.

Zahir Abbas has been jailed for eight years for driving a car in which a student had a handgun held to his neck in an attempt to frighten him into handing over cash and drugs believed by the assailants to be in the garage of his home in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire. The victim was threatened with the gun, which was loaded with three bullets in front of him, and took the assailants to his grandmother's house where he was able to escape when they were seen by his mother.

Two cats owned by the same family were shot with an air rifle within a week of each other near their home in Plymouth, Devon. The male cat was left with a pellet lodged in his thigh which could not be removed without causing nerve damage whereas the female cat was found to have pellet fragments in a wound in her face. Both cats survived the shootings.

Two men armed with a shotgun have robbed a wine shop in Swansea, West Glamorgan. They threatened the shopkeeper and demanded cash, escaping with hundreds of pounds in a van that belonged to the business. The van was later found abandoned but no weapon was recovered and no arrests were made.

Police used a Taser stun gun to arrest a man holding two large knives outside Buckingham Palace in Westminster, London. An officer tasered the man from behind after he responded aggressively when approached by police, and held one of the knives to his own throat. After being disarmed, he was arrested on suspicion of affray.

Martin Geoghegan, 22, has been jailed for 11 years for shooting a man in the neck, chest and stomach with a shotgun outside his home in Birmingham. The shooting, which Geoghegan was paid to carry out, was part of a campaign of targeted intimidation and violence against the victim's brother. The hitman fired shots from the window of a car at the victim, who survived the attack despite his grievous wounds.

Omar Mohammed Ali has been jailed for seven months, and been given six points on his driver's license, after pleading guilty to possessing an imitation firearm in a public place, assaulting his girlfriend with a knife while under the influence of drugs and alcohol, and crashing into a parked car whilst driving without insurance. Ali took a replica .45 calibre handgun to two shops in Gloucester and attempted to exchange the gun first for a meal of fish and chips and then for alcohol, because he had no money to pay for his purchases. He was later arrested in possession of two imitation handguns.
