A inquest has found that Dale Burns, 27, died as a result of a heart attack caused by taking class B drug MDPV after an incident in which police used a taser to arrest the bodybuilder from his home in Barrow, Cumbria. Burns was tasered four times and pepper-sprayed in the face when he violently resisted arrest and was taken to hospital and sedated but suffered a cardiac arrest. The coroner delivered a narrative verdict and ruled that the controlled substance was the only significant cause of death. A separate investigation by the Independent Police Complaints Commission concluded that the police officers involved had acted appropriately and used justified force.
