Anthony MacBean, aged 54, has been jailed for eight months after pleading guilty to possessing an imitation firearm and ammunition in a public place. In September this year, MacBean fired a starting pistol twice into the air on a street in the centre of Sheffield, South Yorkshire. Armed police officers responded and found MacBean carrying a firearm magazine. The pistol was recovered from nearby bushes.

Leigh Walkington has been sentenced to thirteen months in prison after admitting assault by beating and having an imitation firearm with intent to resist arrest. When police officers attended Walkington’s address in Northwold, Norfolk in July this year to arrest him for assaulting his wife, he brandished what looked like a black pistol at them. One of the officers charged at Walkington and he was successfully restrained. The firearm was found to be an imitation gun.
